Designed: February, 2001

Materials: 8’ spruce 2x4, and up to 4’ of 3” diameter PVC pipe

Challenge: To design a “rack” using a maximum of the above listed materials.

Solution: In designing this clothes rack, I wanted to make it as functional as possible. Features include: a rod for hangers, two bars for draping pants over, a small shelf on the top for smaller objects that can’t hang, and then 4 hooks that can be placed in varying holes for things like coats.

Using the maximum amount of the 8’ 2x4, on only 2’ of the PVC pipe, the wood was friction fit together, glued, and then finished with a cherry stain. The PVC pipe detailing (for the hooks and lower bars) was finished with a white acrylic paint.
