There is more of an influence of nature is present in this section. A majority of these projects also remained digital and challenged me to develop fine tuned skills with 3D modeling and rendering. Some products required a lot more attention to detail as many of the computer models created were also milled out of blue foam with a CNC machine to create physical models. This requires the geometry to be perfect or else the machine cuts out odd shapes. Rendering skills and graphic imaging were also important since very few products actually materialized physically. I needed to present my digital designs effectively since you could not actually hold them. A lot of group work was done in product designs. The Universal Fridge was a group project that resulted in a bronze standing in the American Society on Aging’s Universal Design Competition for 2002. [back]
