Designed: April, 2001 Materials: ¼” tempered glass, 1” maple, honey stain. Challenge: To design a piece of knock-down furniture that could fit in a 16x16x6” box. Solution: In an effort to push an organic feel, I constructed a few organic templates and used their shapes in multiple quantities to form the supports of a side table. To contrast all of these irregular shapes, I cut out 2 wooden rings inlaid with glass to form both the main and a mock surface for the table. There is no hardware involved in the set up of this table, since the whole assembly process makes use of friction fit joints.
