Design Team: Ryan Majeau Designed: March/April 2001 Materials: Birch Paneling, Various tracks and hardware Challenge: To design a system of display cases that could be used for varying sizes of exhibits. Solution: Using an S-shape display case, the design team utilized track systems and adjustable shelves to allow for large to small objects to be encased or displayed. Smaller plinth shapes were designed in 3 differing lengths as well to accommodate larger objects that could not be encased, and to support rods that cloth signage could be attached to. Signage would have to be silk screened onto these cloths .Small movable and customizable sign panels could be fixed to each display case or plinth. Circular hooks are also positioned in tracks along the top of the S-display cases to string cable through. These cables can support the lights necessary to illuminate the exhibit. [back]
