Facebook Tries to +1 Google+

It’s been a couple of months since Google+ launched. Some say it’s had great success since then, while others have yet to really find a place for it in their lives. I admit I’m in the latter group. I don’t have time to wade through multiple social networking sites. If I have something to say I’ll say it in one place, not five.

Google+ does have some good features though. The best being the ability to easily create groups of people (circles) and then give you the power to decide which of these groups (circles) can see each post. Facebook thought so too and recently made some changes to its site to try and compete. Have you noticed these changes?

Now with each Facebook status update you post you can tag who you’re with, where you are, and control who gets to see it. This is all done while you post, the options are right there.

More people are aware of their privacy settings these days, but many are still confused as to how these settings applied to what they post. With the privacy settings no longer buried several clicks away—rather put right there in front of your face—you can decide who gets to see each and every post you make. Super easy!

It seems the changes are for the better this time as I have yet to hear the usual uprising from the public, commenting on how much they hate it. So while Facebook may not be very threatened by Google+ yet, it looks like the emerging social network is at least keeping Facebook on its toes.
